Did you know our firm utilizes Riskalyze, the world’s first risk alignment platform, which mathematically pinpoints how much risk investors want, how much risk they currently have in their portfolio, and how much risk they need to take to reach their goals?
I have been thinking a lot about agency lately. Oxford Dictionary defines it as “an action or intervention, especially such as to produce a particular effect”. A sense of agency refers to “the feeling of control over actions and their consequences”.
This morning I attended a yoga class. The teacher, who guides our practice, always has an important message for us. Today, she said that you cannot destroy energy, nor can you create it. Energy moves, it shifts. We can move energy in our bodies, our minds, and ultimately in our lives. I had several conversations this week, and they all had a similar thread. Life happens. Relationships come and go, health improves and declines, money is gained and lost, and our mental state, whether that of joy, happiness, sadness, or anxiety, comes and goes as well. It shifts. Experiences and feelings are never destroyed nor created from nothing. They shift around.
I am witnessing dramatic shifts in my industry and my advisory role due to women’s rapidly evolving relationship to personal finance.
My favorite word right now is “curiosity”. In recent years, I have been curious about finding new and exciting ways to grow, learn and explore new angles through my financial advising practice. I am naturally a connector and relationship builder. I also happen to know how to navigate the world of finance and investments, however the link between the two has been for the most part missing in our industry.
There is a place we are all searching to find. It feels like home. It feels like total acceptance and rest. We take part in endeavors – – work, hobbies, church, travel…and we are searching for something that feels safe. Something that feels easy and flows. Sometimes you find it in the people you connect with. Sometimes you find it in your experience, your senses – the cool ocean breeze, the taste of the wine on your palate, the hymnal, the sounds of the bustling city or swoosh of the snow under your skis.
